TaraFORM

ABOUT

Hi I’m Tara Grebe, founder of TaraFORM. On paper, I’m an AICP certified urban planner/architectural designer as well as an alum of both UNL and UMich (Go Big Red and Go Blue!)

But beyond that, I’m a city dweller, on again off again dancer, amateur seamstress, and a people person.

Born in Phoenix and raised in Kansas City, I’ve spent the last 10 years moving all across the Midwest. These days I call Detroit home and I truly love this city; from its resilient history to the rich design culture, this is a city of creators and doers.

If there’s anything I’ve learned in the last decade its that:

  1. People really love their hometown and are eager to invest in their communities but
  2. There are outdated processes (like ineffective zoning code) that often stand in the way of that
  3. Yet despite systemic challenges, people are out there doing great work and sometimes just need a little help getting the word out!

Relevant Experience:

  • Co-Creative Director and Content Editor for the Agora Journal of Urban Planning and Design (2021-2023)
  • AICP Certified Urban Planner with experience planning community engagement and comprehensive planning
  • I’ve worked at multiple scales from incremental and corporate development to community planning. I understand the varying needs of different sectors from non-profit to public to private.
  • Storytelling has been a key driver in every role I’ve held in my career. TaraFORM combines my knowledge of design and development (to understand your projects) with my copy editing and writing skills from previous roles.

You’re here because you have great ideas, let’s brainstorm together how to make them a reality!
